Athan Sterling Seeks F4 California Top 3 Championship Finish

November 6, 2024

RIDING A STREAK OF FOUR CONSECUTIVE 2ND PLACE FINISHES, ATHAN STERLING SET FOR F4 CALIFORNIA SEASON FINALE

Born and raised near Akron, Ohio, 18-year-old Athan Sterling has enjoyed a very successful rookie race season as part of his long-term JENSEN race car driver development program.

Athan has particularly shined in his two appearances competing in the F4 California Series, where he is currently fourth in the 2024 season championship. In July, Athan scored a pair of 2nd place finishes on his championship debut at the famous Laguna Seca circuit. Athan scored another pair of podiums at Sonoma Raceway near San Francisco in early September.

F4 California Series 2024 season concludes at Buttonwillow Raceway (located near Los Angeles) on the weekend November 15-17. Athan set very competitive lap times during a mid-summer test at the Buttonwillow circuit, which bodes well for his quest to finish Top 3 in the 2024 championship standings.

JENSEN team owner Eric Jensen commented, "Athan is a naturally gifted young man who has often shown impressive speed and maturity during his rookie race season. Despite having no previous karting or racing experience, Athan has quickly learned how to make fast lap times while perhaps more importantly Athan is very consistent rarely making mistakes on track."

Jensen continued, "Based upon his strong F4 California Series results and his often impressive lap times during private testing, mid-summer we created an accelerated development plan for Athan to graduate to race in the higher level FR Americas Championship for the 2025 season. FIA rules require a minimum F4 or equivalent race starts in order to graduate to the higher level FR Americas Championship, and Athan will achieve that requirement by competing in the Buttonwillow season finale."
