April 2, 2023

OLIVER WESTLING CONTINUES IMPRESSIVE FORM AT 2023 FORMULA REGIONAL AMERICAS SEASON OPENER

20 year old California driver Oliver Westling kicked off the 2023 Formula Regional Americas Championship season at New Orleans Motorsports Park scoring a pair of Top 5 finishes.

Graduating to the Formula Regional Americas Championship for the final two rounds of the 2022 championship was another big step in Oliver's race car driver development program. Scoring a 2nd place finish at the Austin F1 circuit finale confirmed the wisdom of Oliver's shift from the F4 US Championship.

Honda Performance Development (HPD) and Honda Motor Company will provide the 2023 series champion with one of the most lucrative career advancement scholarships available in junior car racing available worldwide. Among other prizes, the 2023 season champion will receive a scholarship to graduate to racing in the 2024 Super Formula Championship, which is the Japanese equivalent to the FIA F2 Championship and a major stepping stone series for many Formula One drivers.

Jensen FR Americas team owner Eric Jensen comments, "Our goal with Oliver is to win the 2023 season championship in order to progress his career to race in the Japanese Super Formula Championship for the 2024 season. Many top professional drivers including Formula One race winner Pierre Gasly and IndyCar series champion Alex Palou used their year competing in the Japanese Super Formula Championship as the springboard to their top level race seats."

Jensen continued, "Despite only having one season racing cars, Oliver has proven that he is one of the fastest young drivers in American racing. Consistently challenging for podiums at the New Orleans season opener foreshadows that as Oliver continues to improve his skills at the F3 level, by late summer he will be in the fight to win the 2023 championship and score the big Honda career advancement prize."
