OLIVER WESTLING EXECUTES THRILLING LAST CORNER LAST LAP PASS TO WIN FORMULA REGIONAL AMERICAS FINALE
Oliver Westling completed his sophomore season racing for the JENSEN young driver development team with his best performance to date. The tall and talented California kid chased down 2023 season champion Callum Hedge in the final laps, and showed " Will to Win " common among top professional race car drivers by passing Hedge with a dramatic last corner last lap move to win at the Formula Regional Americas season finale.
Team owner and mentor Eric Jensen stated, "Oliver has surely now established himself as one of the top young American race car driver prospects. We started working together two years ago with Oliver attending one of our Racing Camp programs, and his development has been both steady and impressive ever since. You can teach young drivers a lot about the science, but ultimately it's few kids who possess the natural talent of young Oliver."
20 year old Oliver Westling finished 4th in the 2023 Formula Regional Americas Championship standings scoring two race wins and four podiums.
Formula Regional Americas is the top level American junior race series on the FIA Formula One Championship's young driver development ladder. 2023 championship was comprised of 18 races at iconic American race circuits including Road America, Mid-Ohio, and the season finale Circuit of the Americas.
Ligier JS-F3 are the specification race cars used in the championship, powered by 303 horsepower turbo-charged Honda engines capable of top speeds nearing 160 mph.
JENSEN team owner Eric Jensen continued, "Now the fun really starts with young Oliver. He's an ideal brand ambassador with how competitive he is on track, complemented by his charismatic thoughtful personality and his California kid good looks. We will be working diligently in the coming months to secure brand sponsorships for Oliver to return to our #1 race car for the 2024 Formula Regional Americas series where he would be the clear favorite to win the championship."
